Open Studio Event

The blocks are ready and the ink is waiting. We're inviting past block printing workshop students back to the studio for an open session to practice, experiment, and enjoy a few hours of dedicated creative time.

This session is designed for those who have previously taken my block printing workshop and are ready to dive back into the creative process at their own pace and with their own projects. I will provide the full spread of my curated, hand-carved wooden blocks sourced from India, Turkey, and England, along with an assortment of colorful paints, and all the printing supplies you need to bring your vision to life.

What Is Included

• Full Studio Access: Unlimited use of Melissa's collection of unique wooden printing blocks.

• Printing Materials: All necessary inks, foam dobbers, and supplies.

• Paper Goods: A generous supply of butcher paper and kraft paper for gift wrap or experimentation, plus cardstock for 10 greeting cards with matching envelopes.

Bring Your Own Canvas

While I provide a great foundation of paper and cardstock, this is the perfect time to tackle those personal projects you have been dreaming of. Feel free to bring your own:

• Tea towels or napkins

• Blank decorative pillow covers

• Tote bags or t-shirts

• Extra fabric scraps or even clothing

• Any other unique items you would like to stamp

  
  

This is an unguided, free-flow session where you have the space and tools to experiment, refine your technique, or simply enjoy the meditative process of block printing among friends. Feel free to bring your own materials to print on, OR you can purchase my favorite blank tote bags ($7/ea), blank tea towels ($5/ea), or various sizes of blank twill tape ($5/yard) available for purchase. Feel free to add them to your cart at checkout so I know how much to bring!

TIME: 7:00pm - 9:00pm

COST: $30 per person

WHO IS INVITED: This event is for individuals who have taken a block printing class here at The Workshop or have experience doing block printing in other workshops.

TEACHER: Melissa Wood is the owner of The Workshop and a freelance artist (Instagram: @melimba & @meliswoodhouse). She earned her BFA in Painting and Drawing from BYU and has a lifelong love of all things arts & crafts, which inspired her to create The Workshop. As a professional artist, Melissa has collaborated with clients including Panera Bread, Magnolia, Chatbooks, Riley Blake Fabrics, and more. While she enjoys commercial art, her true passion lies in crafting, gardening, baking, floral arranging, and creating alongside her four children, who often join as helpers in the workshops she teaches.

CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS: Due to the nature of the prep work required for in-person events, we are not offering refunds or credits to another workshop once a workshop has been purchased. Please make certain you are able to attend before purchasing your tickets.

However, if you are no longer able to attend the workshop, you can email us that you'd like to transfer the ticket along with the new participant's name. (info@alpineworkshop.co)
