Step into the art and ritual of traditional tea with our in depth ceremonial matcha preparation workshop with Mykel (instagram: @dont.chase.your.d). You will explore the rich origins of matcha and learn how to thoughtfully honor this ritual in your everyday routine.
Throughout class, you will taste high quality, organic single origin matcha and discover the secrets to crafting a perfectly balanced latte at home. Say goodbye to the watery, bitter brews of commercial coffee chains (looking at you, Starbucks) and learn how to create a rich, velvety cup full of smooth and authentic flavor!
TEACHER: Mykel (instagram: @dont.chase.your.d) spent two years behind the tonic bar at Erewhon (the LA grocery chain famous for its $20 celebrity smoothies) where she got hands-on training in the origins and ceremonial preparation of matcha. Posting about that experience accidentally turned her into a matcha and wellness debunking influencer online, and she's been reading ingredient labels for an audience ever since. She's since taken more courses, taught more classes, and by now has tasted and evaluated over 250 matcha brands (yes, she keeps count).
These days she consults on matcha menus for cafés and bakeries around the country, and teaches sourcing classes of her own — including a session for the Wounded Warrior Project. Her background as a wellness content creator (and daughter of an FDA lawyer) means she reads ingredient lists the way most people read group chats: constantly, and with opinions.
