About the event

Fall Planting for Spring Flowers with Julie Hall from Maple Bloom Flower Farm

Demonstration Class

Have you ever dreamed of stepping into your garden next spring and being surrounded by armfuls of beautiful flowers? The secret to a successful spring flower garden often begins in the fall!

In this workshop, Julie will teach you the fundamentals of fall planting and how to prepare your garden for a season full of blooms. She'll cover what to plant, when to plant it, and how to give your flowers the best start possible through the winter months. She'll explore how and where to order the best bulbs, corms, seeds, and plants for spring flowers, along with the timing needed to make sure you're ready when planting season arrives. You'll learn the specifics of growing some of her favorite spring-flowering crops, including bulbs, perennials, ranunculus, anemones, and other cool-season favorites.

Julie will share the techniques she uses at Maple Bloom Flower Farm, including planting timelines, soil preparation, crop care, and tips for growing stronger plants and more abundant blooms. She'll also discuss how to plan your garden space so you can enjoy a continuous succession of flowers throughout the spring season.

As part of the workshop, she'll also have a selection of hard-to-find bulbs and corms available for purchase, including specialty anemones, ranunculus, and other spring favorites, so you can leave with the knowledge and supplies you need to get your own garden started.

Whether you're planting your first flower garden or looking to expand your skills, this workshop will give you the confidence and knowledge to plan ahead and create a beautiful spring display.

Come learn how to plant now for the flowers you'll love later!
